It's All in the Pink

Just made these themed pink cuppies a couple of hours ago for a couple. I finally got a proper rose petal cutter to make my roses with! And I dusted some pink glitter on a couple of the flowers to "pop" them out a bit more. As you can see I'm working more with fondant now, it's so much fun and you can create so many pretty things with it. I just got an orchid cutter the other day so will wait for a chance to use it!

Romantic Cupcakes @ Goodwood Park Hotel

Behold my new cupcake tier!! Yahoooooooooooo! My darling sister and hubby bought it for me as an early birthday present. I've always the clear acrylic tier look, and I finally have it! It was my first time making the little cake on top look with cupcakes, and I had fun doing it. If you ask me years ago to ice a cake I was hopeless! Now after time and practice, I think I do a half decent job however I think I could have made it look smoother. One of the "holes" in the cake was caused by an undersize cake box so my apologies for that, the butter knife at the hotel helped a bit. It was a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream, true yum! The cupcakes were:

1) Vanilla Cupcakes with Strawberry Buttercream topped with White Chocolate Curls (pink)
2) Lemon Cupcakes with Vanilla Buttercream topped with a cherry
3) Chocolate Cupcakes with Chocolate Buttercream topped with edible gold beads

This was a pretty big job, 300 cupcakes in total! The rest were packed up as wedding favours to guest, as shown in the last picture. They prefered the hexagonal box look hence my usual squares were missing in action. I decorated the top of the cake with fake roses in vintage shades of cream, pink and golden tones. Overall, these are the "prettiest" and most "romantic" cupcakes I've done to date. I hope to do more like these in the future!

Berry Berry Wedding @ Rendezvous Hotel

I had this wedding just on Monday, and the client liked the first ever wedding cupcakes I did which was a berry theme, a mix of strawberries and raspberries. Took me a while to set up, and the reason being that when I arrived at the hotel, this careless bell boy lifted up my big plastic box containing the boxes of cupcakes in an angle, and basically 3 boxes of cupcakes got smashed! So I spent time trying to fix the icing with a butter knife first! But all's well ends well at the end. :)

Lilac & Bows

Made these cuppies for a sampling session the other week with a client. She's having a lilac/pink/white theme for her wedding. I'll be making the cupcakes for her wedding on 11th July so check back later for the final look.

New Flavour!!

Looks like any normal chocolate cupcake right....Wrong!! It's chocolate with a twist. ;) That's right, I've made Chocolate Orange Buttercream! My sister suggested to me to give it a try and when I did, it was heavenly! This is one of my favourite combinations for chocolate so I'm happy it turned out well. It's just a hint of citrus within the chocolate richness, feels like biting into a giant "Jaffa". A jaffa is a chocolate orange treat that I grew up eating in Australia, so I'm happy to recreate a cupcake version. This will be available for orders henceforth!

Wedding @ Grand Shanghai Restaurant

Remember my "Ye Shanghai" post? I finally made the mini's for the wedding! 260 mini's in total!
I was up from morning to afternoon just to finish the icing! Must remind myself to bring in reinforcements next time when I have so many "xi"'s to do. The result was colourful but so cute!

Red, White & Black!

I made these tri colour creations for a couple yesterday who are looking at a red, white and black theme for their wedding. They sent me some photos for inspiration from the internet, and away I went! I spent time making fondant butterflies, flowers and roses in red and black, and also used royal icing to make the little and large looking daisy flowers. I love the result! I never thought the day would come that I could create something like this, but with time and practice, my dream has come true. Now when I see a complicated design I won't be afraid to take on the challenge! Bring it on!

Tasting Time Again!

Had a tasting session a couple of nights ago. The couple wanted something simple but elegant enough for their wedding in a few weeks. I made my red velvet, chocolate, vanilla and lemon cupcakes for them to try, and added in some of my fondant flowers. I forgot to turn the ISO higher on my camera so the pictures came out a little dark. Anyways, hope you like' em!

Lil Baby Footprints!

I made these cute lil cuppies a couple of week's ago for a lady that just had a baby girl. It was a thank you gift to her hospital staff. The footprints are made from fondant and I cut and shaped each foot with toes included, time consuming but the result is worth it! ;) Any mummy to be's out there?

My Proudest Creations to date!

I spent such a long time on these gorgeous things but I definitely enjoyed doing it! My client wanted a variety of flower and other designs, so I made roses, mini roses, ribbon roses, frangipanis, flower cut outs, butterflies and even hearts! I went a lil out with the colours such as bright pinks, purples and reds but I think this type of look gives more of a dramatic flair for presentation. I even added on some edible glitter dust to some of the flowers to make it "pop"! I'm going to attempt orchids in future! My favourite was the large pink gliterry rose design, the cream coloured roses, and the yellow frangipani. Trust me, there are nights where I just can't stop dreaming or thinking of fondant and the designs I can make with them! I'm in love.... :)

P.S. Sorry about the slight blurriness of the pictures, my camera died so I used my boyfriend's camera to capture the images. I didn't know how to work the close up function on his phone. :P

Flower Power!

For the first time, here are my fondant flowers! I remember telling myself a while ago I would never work with fondant bla bla because it's too much work, doesn't taste nice etc. However, since I had one client approach me to try it, I decide why not give it a go. It further's my abilities, and I'll have to chance to make beautiful creations for people. So I got this marshmallow fondant recipe from my mum's friend, and apparently it's more maleable and taste heck a lot better then regular fondant. Just to warn you, it makes for quite a sticky time! So I whipped out my wedding cake books, looked up a few websites and got cracking! I bought a couple of cookie cutters and shaped all the flowers by hand. It's so much work ok, but the result is worth it. I know I can improve better on the "realistic" look of my flowers but I thought for my first try, it wasn't too bad. Check out my next post for more fondant creations!

Giant Oatmeal Raisin Cookies!

Munchylicious to the max! I'm going to work on more cookie stuff soon so keep looking out for the photos. :)
