Classic red roses

The day I made these wedding cuppies, it was truly a special day. Not only did this lovely bride get married, but it was the day of Obama's inauguration! We worked into the wee hours of the nights with some friends while watching the signing in of the new US President, so that definitely kept us awake to work on these red themed cupcakes. She wanted a variety of flowers, so I handmade the small sugar daisies and the drop flowers while the roses were from a supplier. I have yet to master the art of sugar roses! Give me some time and I just might. ;) Her cupcakes served as wedding favours so we tied ribbons to the boxes and had personalised tags designed with the "Xi" and her name along with hubby's. Simple but yet so effective.

More Cake in a Cuppies!

These are probably the most colourful cuppies I'e made for a tasting session! I'm quite liking the bright pink hahaha not for the faint hearted but hey it's ok to make a statement sometimes! Yum yum, more to come for the tum tum!

My First Baby Shower Cupcakes!

Close up of my "golden" butterfly, sorry the pic is kinda dark though

It was fun decorating my first baby shower cupcakes! This lovely lady was throwing a surprise birthday shower for her best friend who just passed her first trimester, so the cupcakes were to add in to the special day. She wanted something neutral as her friend didn't yet know the sex of the baby, and that the mummy loves butterflies and the daddy loves rugby. I handmade white sugar butterflies with I painted with edible gold dust, and I attempted rugby balls which I think turned out ok but I could be better! :P I also kept the frosting a simple shade of cream, which was basically my vanilla buttercream beaten till fluffy that they turn out that colour. Then I finished off with "baby faces" and yellow pacifiers. Cutesy enough! :)

New Year Wedding Cupcakes @ Mandarin Oriental

What's a better way to celebrate the new year, but with new year nuptials! The bride is one of the sweetest and cutest we ever met, and always excited during our email exchanges. She ordered butter cupcakes with vanilla frosting coloured purple to go with her purple and black theme. I then topped them alternately with silver dragees and pink dragees. They totally matched the tabletop yam coloured roses sitting nearby!

Royal China Wedding Cupcakes

Close up of the marble effect

End of December, we were called for this elegant intimate wedding at Royal China which is located at the Raffles Hotel. The couple wanted something simple and elegant to go with their overall theme, so they chose my red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting and I topped the natural coloured ones with blue and pink dragees, while the other had a purple marble effect with silver dragees. My photo of the purple marble cupcakes came out a lil blur so I attached a photo I took on my Iphone earlier during the tasting session so you can see the effect a little better. We finished off the decoration by placing yam and pale pink coloured roses at the base of the tier and threw the petals all around to finish. I feel it went beautifully with the egg blue interior of the restaurant.

Christmas & Wedding Cupcake Samples

Happy New Year everyone! Sorry was out of action for a couple of weeks. Took some time out for a lil vacation with my family and special ones. I'm loading up a couple of blogs today coz I'm so behind in my updating! :P Made these two goodie boxes for a sample tasting on Christmas Eve. Quite a variety of flavours and designs, and the bride was happy so I'm crossing my fingers for this coming December!
